To be asked to choose a career right now is challenging, to pick a specific thing you would like to do at the age of 15 is ridiculous. Having said that I have a couple of options in mind....
1) Choreographing.
My pathway in order to do this is difficult but worth it. It entails finishing Dance Strand at BRIT and achieving the highest grade I can ,hopefully a distinction, in my BTEC Level 2 First Diploma in Performing Arts (http://www.brit.croydon.sch.uk/page/?title=KS4+Dance&pid=74 ) . Then onto 6th form, continuing at BRIT Dance Strand where i would have to re-audition and throughout year 10 and 11 show my passion, commitment, punctuality and persisitance to the school and dance. (http://www.brit.croydon.sch.uk/page/?title=Post+16+Dance&pid=75 ) Then pushing myself to achieve the desired 2 A-Levels ,ranging from grades A*-B, I need for college and an equivalent further education qualification with again grades from A*-B ( http://www.birdcollege.co.uk/frame.php?page=welcome_to_bird.php ). Next my aspirations leads me to Bird College because it specialises in dance and i have had friends ,who have the same aspirations, that have said many positive things. ( http://www.birdcollege.co.uk/frame.php?page=welcome_to_bird.php ) I will have to take BA (Hons) in Dance & Theatre performance, which provides the same oppurtunites as a diploma. After finishing college I will have to continue training at Pineapple Dance studios and various places to keep my stamina, condition and technique up whilst going to auditions for everything involving dance. I would also have to get an agent making it easier to here about potential jobs. Hopefully having gained experience within the industry I will re-locate to America, L.A to try and get an apprentiship with my inspiration, Laurieann Gibson. I will try to achieve this by choreographing dances, sending my blogs and pictures throughout my training and work life until I move to L.A so she might become familiar with my name. Applying for any job as her assistant, dancer to cleaner I will try to become involved within her life in any way possible to start to introduce my goals of dancing with her and eventually becoming a choreographer and achieve what she has. To support my life whilst doing this I will have to get a job, a temporary thing providing money for my career. Hopefully involoving myself will lead to dancing within her group gaining more experience and contacts. Through meeting people in work with Laurieann Gibson I will finally go on to introduce myself as a choreographer to the contacts I have gained. If everything goes according to plan I will have been given an oppurtunity to choreograph something leading to other work and then to my name being familiar within the circles it needs to be. As my idol trained underneath Alvin Aileys dance company, which I have been studying in detail at school, I will try and apply the steps that she took to my career life. Involving myself in the music industry/ labels so any up and coming artists I can start to choreograph for.
